We're pleased to include Flair Boutique - Grand Opening on June 23rd - in our Business Spotlight Series.

We're spotlighting long-time favorites, new arrivals, and hidden gems alike. We encourage you to share these local stories and visit with merchants to get to know them firsthand.

We connected with Celeste Grey to learn more about Flair Boutique at 303 Riley Street.

What is Flair Girl Boutique, how would you describe it to a friend?

Flair boutique is a boho chic inspired store of accessories and clothing.

I started it for women and girls who want to look good while feeling comfortable and unique.

Why did you start the business?

I started my business because I saw an opportunity to use my creative abilities in a way that could help others and help myself.

I worked as a barista most of my working life and I wanted to really branch out and start a long lasting career for myself.

As an artist, I saw this boutique as an opportunity to continue to create and put my work out there to customers.

What do you hope to accomplish?

I would like to invite young artists such as myself to come in. I think they also have a voice/presence that needs to be heard on the street, and what better way than through art.

What's something you wish people knew about your business?

Flair Girl is a boutique without the boutique prices. I try to think around how I am as a 24 year old who doesn’t like overspending on my wardrobe.

I also want people to know that I’m in association with The Bag Lady, which is the store around the corner from me. It’s owned by Anita Grey, my mother and my mentor. She’s owned her business on this street for 9 years.

While I’ve helped her over the years, I’ve been shown the in’s and out’s of owning a boutique. She’s an inspiration as I’ve watched her go from a small handbag store to a large storefront and art gallery.

What is a common question you get or what is your most popular product or service?

I’m often asked where I get my clothes from. Most of the clothes are from Los Angeles, with the rest being from trade shows.

I’ve been going with my mom to Las Vegas for trades shows for a long time helping her pick out and buy for her store, and now I am doing the same for my store.

Why did you choose to be in the Historic District?

I chose the historical district because I’ve grown up in a business on this street. I’ve watched my mother grow and thrive on this street and I hope to do the same, as I think it’s the perfect place for a store like mine.

I would like to invite more young people to get involved here in the historical district, as I think it’s a demographic that hasn’t quite made it out here.

I think the historical district is a forgotten gem and I want people (especially my age) to know that it’s a place for so more than late night drinks.

Are you involved with or do you support any local nonprofits, community organizations or causes?

Though I’m just starting out, I would very much like to find ways to get involved with a non-profit organization.

A big thing my mother has always taught me is that with owning a business and being successful, you should always give back. That’s something I never want to forget as I embark on this business journey.
