If Your Facebook Page Has a Large, Engaged Audience Ask Them to Participate
Most of the content we create for local businesses is focused on getting started and building a following, however, this little tip is focused on pages that already have a decent following (many followers) and have regular engagement with their posts.
In this example, you can see that Venice Main Street in Florida was sharing a meaningful post to their Facebook page from the Herald Tribune's Facebook Page in the wake of Hurrican Irma.
Given the nature of the post, which appears to be a very well attended event on a beautiful day, it makes sense that the post would be popular. Moreover, people take a lot of pictures at events.
So, why not ask people to share a picture or two that they snapped while attending as a comment?
Not only would this be genuinely interesting but it would result in MUCH MORE engagement which means more people would see the post and, by extension, learn about Venice's Facebook page.
This approach wouldn't work with all posts or shares and surely won't be effective without a large audience however it's good to always be on the lookout for ways to let people participate.
Also, extra points would be awarded for a personalized message that included a reference (tagging pages) for any sponsors or exhibitors who are also businesses located on Main Street that might be interested in engaging.
