Website Breakdown - TFT Woodworking - More Text and Less Roadblocks

Small Business and Local Nonprofit Website Tips and Suggestions

There are a lot of ways to build a website and in this episode, I do a breakdown of TFT Woodworking in Albuquerque, NM.

This came about in a Facebook group for local businesses where they were asking about moving away from Etsy as the sole presence online, largely to reduce their fees from clients they attract through offline activities like craft fairs.

Looking into their site, you see a beautiful, minimalist site for selling their handcrafted products... I think it's the right approach.

As you see in the video, there are a few common missteps like the homepage roadblock landing page, too little text (yes, there should be some text), calls-to-action on the homepage, and they could collect and promote their own reviews on their own website.

We covered much of this in a previous post about the 5 elements of a good homepage design.

I'd be remiss if I didn't also mention they could tap into their Local Connections to get added brand exposure and highlight those that they support locally.
